My new Island!

I am so glad that my boyfriend is such a handyman.  We had discussed that we wanted to have an island in our kitchen where we could have 2 stools at so we could enjoy our dinner at the island.

We will use our new island as our table for now until we decide exactly which kind of a table we want to have.

So I have always wanted an island with a butcher block top.  Thankfully mom and dad had a piece of butcher block which was 3 feet by 5 feet.  They were nice enough to allow us to have the butcher block to use on our island.  So Ryan built the base and we then set the butcher block on top.

some wonderful help

Two days this week I had the advantage of having company over to help me paint.

Lauren sat with Sophie to keep her out of the paint.  The story is that Sophie is a walking color board of all the colors in my house.  Sophie is the one who is always rubbing up against my newly painted walls or getting splattered on.  So usually on a planned day of painting we leave Sophie where we are currently living so she doesn't get any more colors on her.

Ryan spent a lot of time up on a ladder painting the high beams in my mudroom.  Not only was there one beam but there are two.

Ashlee helped me get all of the trim and door painted with two coats on them so that I could move forward and get something else done.

And because we got the trim painted the next night we were able to get a coat of new paint on the stairway and mudroom walls.  So my mudroom went from blue to green in one evening.

Finally this is the last room to be painted and at least it now has one coat of paint on it.  I know must force myself to get a second coat on the walls, but perhaps that won't happen this week!  I have too much going on this week so I will be attempting that the begining of the week.

my living room

My living room is slowly coming together and it makes me get more and more excited about moving in and getting everything ready to go. So the trim work in on the stairs and the banisters are all in the basement painted and ready to go.

Ryan and I went over to the house one night after work. He has been working there and getting many things done but I hadn't been over to the house in three days so I got to see all the progress.
The living room floor is half covered in hardwood flooring.
It is completely coved with hard wood floor now but we are using it for painting space. We have put up all the heat pieces so that we could work on getting them painted.

And all the trim boards for the living room and dining room all have a place to be stained. If you can notice in the top of the picture the big beam has been all covered with beautiful pine boards and looks wonderful!

I went over Tuesday night after work and this is what I say. I now have railings on both sides of my stairs!!!! It looks so good and looks like they have always been there!

Some finishing touches

Over the weekend we put some finishing touches on some of the rooms.  We are not close to move in ready by any means but some of these little things can be done now and we won't have to do later.

Ryan installed new lights in the living room, both living rooms.

He installed my new lights in the kitchen and dining room and installed dimmers also.  With three lights in each fixture it was extremely bright if they were all on at the same time so putting dimmers in will help.

The master bedroom flooring is all in.  And Ryan also put up the lights in both bedrooms and in my closets.

So I did a lot of moving, and cleaning, and picking up while Ryan and Wayne did some finishing touches in the house.

Men hard at work

It's always nice to come home from work and see just how much work those wonderful men get done at my house while I am at work.

The dining room now has a new ceiling.  It was a mess before and we tore down the sheet rock and made a wood ceiling to match the kitchen ceiling!

Look at those men hard at work.  Laying down the hardwood floor makes me happy ;-)  It means that the work on the house is getting done and means I can start thinking about moving in.

The floor is just so darn pretty once it was all in!

It is complete!!!!  It looks great!

Some more work

Sometimes when I am in a good groove lots of stuff gets done.

The entire living room has a fresh new coat of paint on it.

And I have decided that I am absolutely in love with this color.  I am glad I am liking the color so much because it is in my entire downstairs of my house.

The interior of all my bedroom closets also have paint on them and everything is beginning to come together.

The closets look so fresh and new compared to what they looked like before.  They didn't have any paint on the closets walls before just just one coat of paint made a huge difference in the appearance.

And the spare bedroom is complete with new hardwood flooring now all that is left in this room is to put the base board, trim and storage doors back on!

A cleaning afternoon

I have had enough.......

This is what my wonderful mudroom looked like. I was sick of walking around everything and never being able to find anything.

It was a disaster.

All the power tools accumulated in one spot and everything else was piled up around also.

I decided it was time that I needed to get my butt in gear and get some picking up done because I was getting annoyed with dealing with this mess everything I walked into the house this is what I saw. It was very overwhelming.

So an hour later.......
It looked so much better.

and I actually liked entering my house because I didn't feel so overwhelmed anymore.

A Painting Evening

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You....

Dad helped paint some ceilings.....

Ashlee helped paint some walls..... along with helping refill my paintbrush and pass it to me out on the staging.

Mom and I got the spare room painted,  I did not pick out this color.....

This was totally left up to Ryan although I do indeed like the color!

The master bedroom even has a coat of paint!!!

The staging in the stairway and the weird angle of the ceiling and walls made for an interesting painting adventure.

It was nice to have Ashlee's help not only to paint but we got to do a lot of catching up and chatting.

Some more construction!

Sometimes..... I love the fact that on days that Ryan has no work, he is at my house working along with his dad and brother.  Out of these day I get a lot of new changes at my house that I get to go look at later and enjoy how much progress we have made since we bought the house.
I have a new closet!  Our bedroom had one closet and Ryan sure know me well.  He knows that I have too many clothes to fit in that one closet and then he wouldn't have any room either.  So he built me this new closet which is much bigger.  I can even walk in it, turn around, and it has a light in it!  My clothes might all fit in this closet although hubby may have to share a little closet space for my longer items that need to be hung up.

My living room is now super large.  The wall is completely up and the "big beam" is now up to support my ceiling. I have always wanted a super large living room and now I have one!!

Wedding Update

117 days to go!!!!
I'm not excited or anything..... ok maybe a little.

So Ryan and I have decided.........

It is time for a blog with wedding updates so everyone can have a little sight of where we are and what's going on.

A sneak peek at the dress...

You thought you would get a sneak at my dress.....Well, No but here is a sneak peek of Lindsey's!  It is stashed away in the closet at my house and I look at it very often thinking about the exciting day.

There they are.....  My box of invitations.  Yes they are all wrapped and set aside in the box waiting to be used and delivered.

These are the return envelopes.  They are wrapped in plastic so the address is quite blurry.

My box of addressed envelopes.  The pile keeps growing.  I slowly working on addressing the envelopes when I have time and so far these are all the ones I have completed although I do still have a handful to go!

Look at all those addressed envelopes.  They look so pretty and so complete!

This is the invitation........
You thought you were going to see it......It's that back but you can enjoy looking at it if you would like.

Oh.,..... so beautiful.  I love this color combination.

And this combination.  They just make my heart melt.  And Ryan and I cannot wait to use these items in our wedding.  Ryan and I are working with these materials to get them ready!

And the fabric with the polka dots!!!  Yeah to make this work.  I so want that fabric involved in the wedding and will some how get my way!

Flooring

We have it!!!!!!!

Our flooring is in the garage. Mind you in the trailer, in the garage. And we got it on the 16th and this is still as far as it has made it. I am in no hurry to get it in because I haven't had the time to get the painting and all the other work done and the flooring will be the last project that we work on.

This is the pile of boxes over the top of the trailer. They have stacked them well in order to get all the boxes to fit in the trailer and they did a mighty nice job.

They did bring me in one box and open it so I could see what it looks like. I mean I did see it when I ordered it but I also wanted to see it in my house! Although it is packed back up again in the box so that I can get other work done and not damage the floor.
