Our Weekend away!

You got it!!! We got to have a weekend away with the family! There was lots of snowmobiling, silly times, and family time!

Ryan and I just HAD to take another picture. After all that talk about engagement photos we thought we should pick this one!!! No mom, I'm just kidding.

Just to make everyone aware you cannot kiss one another while wearing helmets. It just doesn't work!

Ryan even thought he would try on ski boots. We talked about going to the mountain and skiing. He had never even seen what ski boots look like and he decided that walking around in them was really quite challenging.

Trying to walk in ski boots is slightly challenging.

Completed!!!!..... Well, almost!

The rooms over the garage now look like rooms!  They are all painted and put back together and ready for me to start moving some items over to store!

The storage room looks great in this color!

Have I mentioned that I absolutely love this color.  It is in my storage room but it will also be my kitchen, living , and dining room color too!

ok, so this room isn't completely done.  It still needs the outlet covers put on.

And the door needs to be put back on.

But I got a call today and was told, The door is on!  The outlet covers are on!!!  And these two rooms are complete!

Day of hard work!

Saturday Ryan and I are fortunate to have such great friends.  We had both his parents and mine at the house along with our friends Dan and Lynda.  My grandparents also stopped by.  It was great to have all kinds of help because we were able to get a bunch of things done.  

Wayne and Ryan worked on moving three sets of heat pipe.  When we took down the walls that we wanted removed there were heat pipes that needed to be moved so we could finish taking down the wall and could have large open rooms.  

Mom and Lynda worked on painting doors after we got the rooms all painted.  It was so nice to get some of these little odd and end jobs done that were sticking around waiting to be done.  

Even though Dan's neck is still hurting he did the best that he could to help out.  He stuck it out through a couple hours until he decided he had enough and we sent him home.  

Lynda worked on getting the border off before the painters got in the nook.  I had forgot to remove this before we started painting.

I trimmed out the wall along the ceiling line.  Then Carol came behind me with rollers and got the wall painted in no time.

Ryan was afraid we were going to leave the room like this, which he didn't like.  But we all said if I had left it like this it looks like the grass and the sky.

And the finishing touches put on Sunday with the help on Carol, mom, and of course Autumn!

ok..... real painting help

okay....so my mother and future mother in-law decided that it would be fun to write all over the walls with paint. Well I definitely loved it since I took pictures of it so I would always have pictures to go with the memories.


Carol, mom, and I spent a snow Tuesday night while the boys were ripping down walls putting primer in the "wild room" as Sambo likes to call it! It didn't take us long at all and the best part is that we didn't have to worry about dripping paint anywhere. We dripped it all over the carpet because we knew that in two short days all that carpet would be gone!


Wednesday was a "snow day" and on my day off from work I got to spend the day working on the house. Mom and Carol painted all the trim work in the upstairs bathroom.

Everyone was getting ready to leave when low and behold I decided that I want to paint the bathroom downstairs. Well needless to say when paint gets left behind and I like the color....well, I will use it.


So mom and I painted the downstairs bathroom a beautiful green before leaving the house late afternoon to go home and do all kinds of shoveling and snow removal.


Like I said, It is such a beautiful color. And I am so excited because this is the original color in the upstairs bathroom but I painted over it because all of my master bath accessories did not match the wonderful green.

So now I have the matching bathroom and I still get my beautiful green bathroom!

Painting Help

This is what happens when one asks for help but is at work when the help is working on the house......

I had to work but both mothers offered to help so I took their help and left some things they could work on.


I thought Carol was painting the ceilings in the storage room and sewing room. When I arrived in deed the ceilings were done. But I also found some lovely writing on the wall.



The bathroom trim needed to be painted. The door also needed to be painted but I got this painting instead. Yes the door is painted. Not fully and not the way I wanted it but at least Ryan and I know we are loved by our mothers.



My mom calls our new house "camoland" So now we have it painted on the living room wall. At least this wall will indeed be painted eventually. But for now it is indeed "camoland"


I just wish that I had more time in a day so that I could go up and visit the house and get some work done also. But for now I am keeping busy and we will continue to work on the house as we have time.

Valentines Day

Yesterday was in deed Valentines Day!

When I came home from work yesterday, I got myself ready to go appliance shopping.  I went appliance shopping with my grandparents and we met Ryan there after work.  He wanted me to ride home with him and so when I got in the truck........

In my seat was this beautiful bunch of roses!  

We had decided that we weren't giving gifts this year but I had a practical gift I needed to give him!  I got Ryan mirrors for his snowmobile because he got a new snowmobile this year and it doesn't have mirrors.  

Ryan is the type of guy who loves to spoil me and I don't mind it.  I have never been a huge fan of flowers, but Ryan knows to give them to me anyway and that I will enjoy them after I get them.  

We went up to the new house thinking we might get a few things done and finished up.  So we didn't have any romantic dinner and we didn't make dinner there because we don't really have the utensils to cook at the new house.  We also don't have any table settings or a table to eat at.  

So we ordered take out!!  

We ate standing at the island in the kitchen.  We ordered sandwiches, we each got a drink and a candy bar.  We lit three candles and we stood at the island and ate.  

After we finished eating I headed upstairs to finish on some touch up painting, some floor sweeping, some floor washing, and some putting the rooms back together.  Ryan installed my toilet paper holder and towel holders in the bathrooms.

The house is starting to get into shape!  

Demo continues!!!

The demolition continues on the house.


We started with a small hole in the living room where we needed a piece of the wall to repair another wall in the house. when Wayne and dad showed up they thought they would start investigating a little more. I shouldn't have decided to paint that night because I missed out on some of the ripping and tearing.


Ryan looks on and helps as the hole in the wall gets bigger....and bigger.....


and bigger. We are now able to walk through the wall between the rooms.


I thought I would stand in the old bedroom and look through to the mothers in the living room.


The next day my grandfather came over to help remove all the drywall screws. And help supervise the boys as the continued to work.


And they removed the beams, and the wall has since dissapeared and now we have one large living room. I am so excited to have open concept living!

Demo Begins

Okay, so the Demolition began on Wednesday. Just two days after we purchased the house. We said that we were not going to start demolition this quickly but it just happened to be a snow day and nobody worked that day so we used Tuesday night and Wednesday during the day to our full advantage. This is just a few of the things that we accomplished.


This kitchen wall will be removed so we will have open stairs and a great view into the living room.


I love it and can't wait for it to be finished off so it can be finalized.


We also plan to remove this wall. This wall is also in the kitchen and on the other side of the wall were the washer and dryer. We wanted to be able to have a dining room now!


This will be our dining room which is also open into the kitchen!



Ryan had to work hard to move this corner cabinet because it did not want to budge.



I love an open concept floor plan and I will have one when I am finished and I can't wait!

The House

So I have decided I needed to post some pictures for people to see! So I will just throw up a bunch of pictures and do the best to explain the ones I think need explaining!



Ryan and I were welcomed home Monday night by a gathering of friends and family who came out to see the new house and see the start of the house adventure that Ryan and I are begining. And of course after any closing one must deserve a cake. My brother was defintly with us that night and we had our cake that we remember him with.


Dad just couldn't wait to go over to the house and put up the sold sign. Although the sign got barried quickly with a snow storm just two days after we bought our house.


This room will just simply be the "storage" room for now. This will be the extra bedroom over the garage where someday will be used for older children.


This will be my sewing cave for now. I can't wait to spend time in this room. I am going to love this room this is where I will be able to let my mind wander!


Our lovely large mudroom! We will have great storage to put lots of coats, gloves, hats, boots and all the good outdoor gear!


This bathroom is downstairs and will be the bathroom that is used by all the guests!


Our living room. Which in the end will be out huge living room. This is only one half as we are tearing a wall down to make it double the size!


This is the kitchen. And this wall WILL be changed!


Lots of counter space and cupboard space for storage.
